Communication Between Bodies

Communication is everything! It's body language, verbal language, eye contact, and so much more.  The communication between two or more people is so deep it could have it's own major.  Included in the social interaction topic are things like roles, statuses, the self, and how they all interact constantly.

This image was taken from Flickr.  It is of three brides maids who are showing just in one picture a load of social interaction.  Their body language shows that their shoulders are all facing eachother which means they are involved and interested in what each other is saying. And to go along with the bride maid role they are all dressed the same, they have drinks in their hands, they are laughing and having a good time.

This link has some nice information on social roles and norms.  Social roles are roles that one person is in, as if it was an acting role.  Norms are 'rules' or social standards that everyone must follow.  Most social norms are the same for everybody but everyone has different social roles.

This link is an example of a negative consequence for breaking a social norm outside of this country.  This journalist was arrested for wearing pants, pants are considered indecent in Sudan.  The journalist was almost beaten with 40 lashings just for breaking a social norm.
