Put A Ring On It

Every year Chicago puts on a pride parade that celebrates homosexuality. The parade first started in 1972 and its purpose is to celebrate lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and the freedom of all people to meaningfully and proudly express their sexual and gender identities. This parade has grown to be one the largest and most well-known Pride events in the world. In class we have learned about all of the different types of sexual orientations and this parade celebrates every single one of them. The topic of homosexuality brings up another huge topic that has been in the news recently and that is gay marriage. This debate has been going on forever and seems to have no clear answer. People who oppose making marriage between the same sex legal argue that it is morally wrong and it goes against nature. Many people who believe in this side tend to be on the religious side and their views stem from their religious background. The side for making marriage between two people of the same sex legal believe that it should not matter what the sex of the two people but that they should have equal rights to marry. My personal opinion on this topic is that if two people are in love and want to marry someone then go for it. No one should be told that they cannot marry someone.
