Helped Us? He left us Lost In Detention

Politics is one of the toughest jobs in the world. In order to keep your job, you have to please your votes while at the same time keeping those in the inside satisfied because they can help you lose your job. When you give your word to one of the biggest populations in the country in order to help them out while receiving their help in the next election, do not go back on it. Obama has.

I recently have watched a documentary called “Lost in Detention” which talks about all the undocumented immigrants that have been caught by federal officers and are just put away in detention in order to get them out of the country. Most of these immigrants are ones that have never committed any crimes and are living here for their own sake and those of their families. This goes against Obama’s policy of only deporting undocumented immigrants who have committed crimes.

Can you imagine having only one parent or no parents, knowing that they are actually caring for you but are not in your presence? We all love our families with all our hearts! But I cannot imagine being forced to be far away from my family due to the government pulling us apart. I say this as an adult, but can you imagine the impact it would have on a kid? We all look up to our parents, but once that kid does not have that one person they always look up to, an aunt and uncle come into place but they don’t have the same impact as a parent.  Growing up, they would not be able to learn the same values as their peers and start having family violence occur simply because of hatred of not having their parents, they will find someone else to blame. This can then continue as they grow up. Not knowing how to be properly raised, they cannot have the same values as of raising another kid when they get their own.

Obama developed hope for all undocumented immigrants as he ran for President in 2008. He promised to have an immigration reform within the first two years of being a President. When this documentary was filmed, the percentage of Latinos in favor of supporting Obama went from a staggering 76% to a 45%. He ran for reelection again in 2012 winning it. During his campaign, he admitted to not being able to make an immigration reform, but then he promised he would again as he has been working hard on it. Two years after his election, there has not been much progress for a universal one. He has made one for work permits for certain undocumented immigrants so they can work and have a driver’s license. Obama has produced false charismatic authority by giving so many people hope, but never really holding up to his promise. The approval of Obama has been going down more and more over time with undocumented immigrants, hoping that one day there will be a reform but always coming up short.

In order to be successful in politics, you have to please your voters, even though you may not successfully fulfill your tasks you are telling them you will accomplish.
