I found a blog on Buzzfeed.com and the articles title is Utah Woman Arrested After 7 Dead Babies Are Found In Her Home by Alison Vingiano. In the blog she talks about Megan Huntsman, 39 who had given birth to six newborn babies and suffocating five of the babies to death the sixth one died from natural cause but is being tested at Utah’s medical examiners office. Megan’s husband Darren West found the first baby in their garage in a cardboard box and called the police to report it. The police suspect she has given birth to the babies in between the time periods of 1996 to 2006. In the blog the press reported that Megan has 3 other children, two who are adults and one who is still a teenager. None of Megan’s family knew about these babies or their deaths. The press asked her husband Darren West how he didn’t know about Megan’s pregnancy’s and he said “that’s the million-dollar question. Amazing” and I think that’s what a lot of America is trying to also understand is how this woman gave birth to 6 children and not a single one of her family members was able to notice that she was pregnant. Also the press talked to Megan’s neighbors Kathie and Aaron Hawker and they said that Megan hadn’t lived in her home for a couple years and that the 3 daughters had been living alone inside the house which makes another twist to the story because how could they be living inside a house where there mom was storing dead bodies.   Megan’s set bail is at 6 million dollars, this relates to chapter 9 deviances in the book because it talks about crimes, police and the death penalty. Megan committed the crime against the person, which is violent crime with murdering her babies. In the chapter it talks about symbolic-interaction theory and within the theory it goes into detail about the labeling theory which is the idea that deviance and conformity don’t result from what the person did when committing their crime but how others look at the crime and the person and how they react to it.  I personally think that the blogger to this article Alison did a good job letting the public know how the family felt and how they were unaware of the circumstances. But I wish that she would have went more into depth with what the police were saying and what charges she could possibly be facing, I feel like this blog was taken lightly and it should have been more geared towards the crimes and what the police say to this horrible crime. She should have talked about when her court date was and more about what the families’ true thoughts were about the situation they were under. With the statements given by the ex husband and the family it made it seem fishy about whether or not the family truly did know about that their mother/ wife was pregnant not just once but SIX times and that they never asked where the babies went or why she was in the hospital or going to the doctor, none of it just seemed to add up. Overall I do think that this blog was good and interesting but there are some things that I disagree with some things about this article but to me it related to chapter 9 about deviance a lot.
